from my studio to yours...
Dear friend, fellow artist or researcher and textile enthusiast...
Welcome to STUDIOBOOKS.
STUDIOBOOKS is moving!
After ten years of research, publication, conferences and art work, our address will be changed beginning with this catalog. Please make a note of it in your address book. The websites and email stay the same. Our catalog itself is a bit abbreviated this year, but all of the information you need is on our website www.studiobooks.homestead.com, including cover photos, reviews and information about each book. Since inventory is a problem, we are having an inventory reduction sale as we move, so look through this catalog to find some of your favorite items on sale. Others have been dropped from our line or have sold out. If you want to really stock up, you may have a 30% discount off the retail price if you purchase 5 or more of the same item.
This spring, a large exhibition of my paintings is being held at the Roberson Museum in Binghamton, NY. You should receive this catalog in time to attend the opening on March 25, 2004. The show will run through the end of May. Titled Russian Reflections, the exhibition will highlight all of my Russian paintings including the Goddess Chapel and Shrine of the Black Virgin Series. Also included are the watercolor series, Russian Domes and mixed media paintings titled Women With Wings. In an adjacent gallery, the show Bridge to Borovici will feature work of Russian artists from this sister city of Binghamton. There will be a lecture at the museum on March 27 from 3 - 5 on the goddess series and an opportunity to paint your own goddesses during the workshop. Why not join us for this special event. The museum is located at 30 Front St. in Binghamton, Tel: 607 772 0660.
This summer a group of textile enthusiasts and friends will again travel to the Chuvash Republic for the annual Festival of the Volga Peoples. There is still room for you to come if you can. Just email me for more information. We leave June 14 and return at the end of June. We will visit Mari country and jump over a bonfire there on Midsummer Night. We'll see textile treasures in Yoshkar Ola, Kazan and Cheboksary museums. Please visit www.chuvusproject.homestead.com for more information and updates.
We now have three books available on-line at Amazon.com. They are: Goddess Embroideries of Eastern Europe, Goddess Embroi deries of the Balkan Lands and the Greek Islands (search words: goddess embroideries) and Making and Using Ritual Cloths.(search words: ritual cloths). You can also order from your local Barnes and Noble book store. Both take credit cards. We are still unable to process credit cards but are happy to receive your checks as payment. Build up your collection by looking thru our sale catalog and ordering you favorite books now. This year's catalog was delayed due to the publication this March of Making and Using Ritual Cloths. I hope you will be curious and order a copy for yourself or for a friend. I think you will love meeting contemporary women in Russia, Finland and in this country who are using ritual cloths they make themselves to create special occasions and ceremonies for their friends and families.
Sincerely,
Mary B. Kelly
